It was a quiet evening at home for Tanner's birthday. I made Tanner's favorite for dinner, shepherd's pie for dinner. The cake was really good, he picked Rainbow Chip. Cody really enjoyed it.
Happy Birthday Tanner!

Monchong

We were looking at fish at Costco and decided to try Monchong. It is considered an exotic fish and is a by catch usually from tuna fisherman. While we were eating Troy said he wondered what it looked like, so we decided to look up what we were eating. Not the best looking fish, but it was delicious.
Mama Mia!
I thought maybe Mama Mia would be funny, so we got it through Netflix. Troy wants me to stress that it was all me that wanted to watch this movie. LOL... So we started watching it last night.. I didn't realize that it was a musical. Oh my! It was awful! I got so sick of the singing I fast forwarded through it to the end just so I could see who her Dad was. Troy said he was so embarrassed to say he watched it, he didn't want anyone to know. But he made the huge mistake of mentioning it to the guys at work.. LOL You can imagine how that went.. bunch of construction workers.. LOL
Look Ma!
Happy New Year!
I was so excited to see our friends Chelise and Keli'i and their adorable little girls. I think little Kelise missed her Auntie and Uncle too. The kids had a blast doing fireworks and we walked down and saw the fireworks at Brenneke beach. I think I was still pretty jet lagged and had a stomach ache and was in bed by 11:30. Troy was sweet and woke me up with a kiss at midnight and told me Happy New Year. I am proud to say that I did my New Years Resolutions this year. One of them was to lose weight (which isn't that everyone's) but I lost 76 pounds in 2008! Woot Woot!! I'm very proud of myself for that. I also did very good remembering birthdays. This year.. my New Year's resolution is to do better with our finances and have savings by the end of the year.
Cody is such a character
At the airport on the moving sidewalks, Cody would get to the end and start walking backwards on it. It was a long day, we got left SL at 10:03 am Mtn time, and got to Lihue Airport at 8:38 pm pacific time (11:38 mtn time) We did nap for about 1/2 the flight from Phoenix to Honolulu. It took me about a week to get over the jet lag. The kids didn't seem to have any jet lag. But all that Cody has talked about since we got back is going to "Nana house." He will even get his toys out and pile them up and say he is taking them to Nana's house with him.
Departure
The time went by way too fast. We wish we had had more time. I have been so homesick since we left... this is what our luggage looked like. Surprisingly we were able to get everything in our bags without going over the 50 lbs and in the one box which we paid the extra $25 bag fee- it was much cheaper than shipping it. Just in case anyone doesn't know... you now have to pay for your first checked bag at most airlines. It's $15 for you first bag up to 50lbs and $25 for an extra bag. And, you have to pay for drinks on the plane now.. it's $2 on US Airways...You don't get anything for free anymore. :(
The last supper...
Our last night out, we went to our favorite mexican restaurant, Lorena's. We inquired as to if they sold their salsa and they gave us a huge JUG of their hot sauce. Troy put it in his checked suitcase, and although TSA went through his suitcase, it survived changing planes 3 times. It's about 1/2 gone already. :) It's good stuff!
